What is Expressive Arts Therapy?
Expressive Arts Therapy (EXAT) is an intermodal arts-based approach to therapy that combines psychology and the arts. Expressive Arts Therapy is an arts-based relational approach to psychotherapy that integrates visual arts, music, movement, writing, drawing and pottery to facilitate creative expression.
The sessions are collaborative and will weave a myriad of experiences that engage play, the arts and the imagination to unlock the subconscious. In this process, the client is considered the “expert” and is at the center of the therapeutic journey towards personal healing. Art is used as a therapeutic tool to help ignite personal growth and self-reflection.
